Dr Lassina Zerbo, the Executive Secretary of the Comprehensive Nuclear Test -Ban Treaty Organisation (CTBTO) paid a courtesy call to the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade Lt General (Rtd.) Dr. S.B. Moyo at his Munhumutapa offices on 13 February 2019.

It was with profound grief and shock that the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade, Hon. Dr. Lt. Gen. (Rtd) S.B. Moyo, the Secretary for Foreign Affairs and International Trade Ambassador J. Manzou and the entire staff learnt of the sad passing on of Ambassador Samuel Chihondo Mhango, Zimbabwe’s Ambassador to Sweden in Harare in the evening of 27th January 2019. On behalf of the Ministry we wish to express our deepest and most sincere condolences to H.E. the President of the Republic of Zimbabwe, Cde E.D. Mnangagwa, Mrs Mhango and family and Government and People of Zimbabwe on this tragic and untimely loss.

Zimbabwe and International music icon, Dr Oliver Mtukudzi has been declared a National Hero, the first local musician to get that recognition. H.E. the President, Cde. Emmerson Mnangagwa announced the conferment when he visited superstar’s home in Norton yesterday to pay his condolences.

From Monday the 14 the of January to Monday the 22nd of January 2019, President Emmerson Mnangagwa undertook an engagement and reengagement visit to four Eastern European countries, namely the Russian Federation, the Republic of Belarus, Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan. The tour was aimed at consolidating and solidifying the engagement process that the President has outlined as the focus of his Foreign Policy under the Second Republic. The visits provided an opportunity translate the excellent political ties into mutually beneficial economic ties.

The ruling Zanu-PF party’s 17th Annual National Peoples Conference, which was attended by in excess of 5 000 delegates, ended at Esigodini, Matabeleland South, on December 15, 2018 with Politburo member, Advocate Jacob Mudenda, reading out the Conference’s resolutions listed here-under:

On 3 December 2018, the Secretary for Service Commission, Ambassador Wutawunashe, addressed the Ministry’s 2018 Strategic Planning Workshop on behalf of the Chairman to the Service Commission, Dr. Vincent Hungwe. He described the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Trade as occupying an integral position and playing a critical role in marketing Zimbabwe, attracting investment and basically promoting the image of a new business-oriented nation.

During his Visit to Zimbabwe the Republic of India Vice President H.E. Shri M. Venkaiah Naidu, paid a courtesy call on the President of the Republic of Zimbabwe, H.E. Cde. E. D. Mnangagwa.

Government has amended indefinitely Statutory Instrument (SI) 122 of 2017 to allow companies and individuals with offshore and free funds to import specified basic commodities that are in short supply due to the speculative behaviour of local retailers and panic-buying by consumers.

The one day induction of new and redeployed Permanent Secretaries successfully ended in Harare laying a solid foundation for the achievement of Vision 2030 as enunciated by H.E. the President, Cde Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa.

The honeymoon is over for those who take appointment to Zimbabwe’s Diplomatic Missions abroad as an opportunity for holidaymaking. Each mission will be assessed on the amount of investment and trade business brought back home to Zimbabwe.  

President Mnangagwa yesterday swore in 20 Cabinet ministers at State House in Harare, setting the tone for serious Government business following the July 30 harmonised elections.

Zimbabwe and Belarus are set to further concretize business deals penned earlier this year in the areas of science and technology, energy, agriculture, industry and infrastructure development.

A call has been made for the world to be cautious and not apportion blame before the outcome of the inquiry to be set-up by President Emmerson Mnangagwa after his inauguration. This follows violent protests that rocked Harare on Wednesday which regrettably left six people dead.

Efforts by the Government of Zimbabwe to maintain rule of law have been commended by European Union and United States Ambassadors Zimbabwe who say it will bring harmony amongst Zimbabweans.
