Agriculture is the mainstay of the economy and it provides vertical and horizontal linkages to other economic sectors. It is also a source of the much needed agro-based raw materials. The sector is also linked with other major sectors of the economy, as it provides the much needed agro based raw materials.

Foreigners are free to invest in the sector through contract farming arrangements. Opportunities include provision of financial and technical services, greenhouse production of vegetables and flowers, fruits production, livestock production, dairy farming tobacco farming, soya bean production and many others.

The sector is not limited to the above and includes investment opportunities in a thriving tobacco production, cotton, timber and sugar milling.
